Admiral has been offering motor insurance since 1993 and is part of the Admiral Group who are car insurance specialists targeting those paying high premiums such as those under 35 and drivers living in big cities. The group has offices in Swansea and also in Cardiff which they share with sister companies elephant.co.uk and Bell Insurance.

In December Admiral launched Multicar a policy for two or more cars registered to the same household insuring them on one policy giving discounted premiums. The more cars on one policy the bigger the discount with around 23% being saved with four or five cars and a 10% saving for policies insuring two cars.

Admiral will also make the renewal date the same for all cars insured on one policy and even if one were to join the policy later the same year all would receive one year’s no claim bonus.

In 2000 elephant.co.uk was launched by the Admiral Croup and became the UK’s first online car insurance provider. The company has expanded greatly with over 350,000 drivers insured and employs in excess of 1000 people.

Since its launch elephant.co.uk has remained constant and has used low budget television advertising keeping costs down and is the only UK car insurer to use a website name.

Primarily elephant.co.uk insure drivers living in London, South East and Scotland and those paying higher premiums.

‘Trunkie’ the pantomime style elephant is used for television commercials and ‘Trunkie’ as a cartoon elephant is the company logo and used on all printed matter.

It was in 2000 that elephant.co.uk set up a rapport with the ‘Born Free Foundation’ and donated £17,000 to ‘Stop the Clock’ campaign that is trying to stop the ivory trade and supports several Born free projects.

Since 2004 elephant.co.uk has donated over £30,000 to ‘Tusk Trust’, a wildlife charity.

Bell Insurance was founded as Bell Direct as part of the Admiral Group in 1997, targeting drivers with a low no claims bonus. They offer cheap insurance to young drivers, students, new drivers and ex company car drivers.

Bell Insurance have a Bell’s Bonus Accelerator policy allowing drivers to gain one years No Claims Bonus in ten months as long as the policy is claim free.

The company name was changed in 2005 and is situated in Cardiff.
