CIS have been trading since 1867 and are the only co-operative insurance company in the UK with approximately 4.7m customers.

CIS’s products include Motor Insurance, life and home insurance, pensions, critical illness products, unit trusts and ISA’s.

With the Co-operative Bank the CIS becomes the Co-operative Finance Services and offer a wide range of banking services at great rates.

Their ethical values developed in consultation with customers enabling them to lobby other companies to improve their ethical values.

They are committed to sustainability and are re-cladding their CIS tower in Manchester with solar panels making it the largest solar panelled project in the UK.

CIS also aim to use their resources and expertise to benefit communities and society to make good definite changes to society.

Other companies in the Group are Co-op Insurance Society Ltd, CIS Unit Management Ltd, CIS General Insurance Ltd and CIS Policyholder Services Ltd.

With their Motor Insurance CIS strive to take the hassle out insuring a vehicle and every 3.5 minutes a motor insurance is taken out with the company and have over one million motor insurance customers.

One of their products is Ecoinsurance, this is aimed at offsetting damage to the environment caused by car emissions. This is applied by investing in rainforests, reforestation and energy efficiency and by making sure their repairers use recycled materials where possible.
